Math Quiz- Class B
The 1st Annual Math Quiz Competition for Class B took place on September 27, 2023, with the aim of providing an enjoyable and educational opportunity for students to celebrate their love for learning and mathematics.
This event served to encourage students both competitively and educationally, fostering their ability to expand their knowledge beyond the classroom.
The competition was graced by our esteemed Director, Sir Vihutuo Sekhose, and our respected Administrator, Sir Ketoulhou Sekhose, along with the parents of the participants from all five sections of Class B. Their presence added a special and meaningful touch to the event.
The event commenced with an invocation prayer by Miss Menangmenla. Miss Takunaro was the timekeeper, and Miss Jungshimenla and Miss Eunice served as scorekeepers. Miss Konjai Noklang managed the PowerPoint presentation. Madam Emilo and Miss Yangersangla were the quiz masters. Madam Emilo reminded the gathering by quoting the words of the legendary mathematician from Tamil Nadu, Srinivasa Ramanujan: “With true dedication, we can always succeed in our lives.”
The competition featured five teams representing the five sections of Class B, each consisting of four participants. The quiz comprised a total of eight rounds, including two visual rounds and one worksheet round. There were also two audience rounds. Questions covered various math topics, and participants had a limited time of 10 seconds to respond to each question, except in the worksheet round and the rapid-fire round, where they were allotted 2 minutes and 40 seconds, respectively.
The competition remained closely contested among all the teams until the final round, the rapid-fire round. This segment challenged participants’ quick thinking and ability to answer questions on the spot. The performance of Lihmei Wangnao from Team Polaris and Sungjemong from Team Precious Pearls left the audience in awe with their 100% correct responses.
The enthusiastic audience added to the excitement of the competition. In the end, Polaris emerged as the winners of the 1st Annual Math Quiz Competition 2023, followed by Precious Pearls in 2nd place, Smart Earthlings in 3rd place, Shining Pluto in 4th place, and Heavenly Waters in 5th place.
The quiz masters skillfully conducted the competition, keeping contestants and the general audience engaged throughout.
After announcing the results, the supervisor of Star Kids, Madam Tainla, delivered the vote of thanks and mentioned that the event “inspired little minds,” aligning with the school’s motto. The spectacular event concluded with a benediction prayer by Miss Eunice.
