The Annual Supermarket event of Star Kids was held on 29th June 2024. It was jointly organized by the students and teachers of Class A comprising 6 sections namely: Little Dippers, Twinkling stars, Great Bears, Blue Dolphin, Birds of Paradise and Shooting Stars.

The main goal of this event was to introduce the kids to the concept of applying their knowledge of numbers and basic mathematics in a real-life scenario while having a blast!

The kids from each Class were divided into 4 groups where they set up their own shops displaying a variety of healthy food items, fruits and crafts specially handmade by the kids themselves just for this exclusive event. The students were assigned the role of Shopkeeper, Assistant Shopkeeper, Recorder, Cashier and Bag Seller. All the participants showed up in their colorful aprons, hats and stickers according to matching themes of their respective stalls and duties.

The shopkeepers gave a detailed explanation of each item in their stalls and with their persuasive skills, did very well in convincing customers and visitors to grab lots of goodies from their shop. Another fun part of the shopkeepers’ duty was the counting of money from the sales and handing the changes back to the customers. This was done by applying simple addition, subtraction, multiple and division just as we see in a regular grocery store.

The recorders kept every detail of the items sold by noting them down in tally sheets while also maintaining accuracy so that the numbers tally with the products. They did their work very diligently so as to avoid any errors.

Special mention to the fruit sellers who did a commendable job in operating the weighing scale. Here they were required to weigh fruits according to the customer’s needs, and not by definite units like 1 kg , 2 kgs etc but everything in between, in the form of fractions. The use of mathematics here was really impressive. Such a joy to watch little kids being so innovative.

To sum it up, one would say this year’s supermarket was one of the best, if not the best so far because we got to witness so many new and exciting items which were on-the-spot for the very first time like Pancakes and Popcorn which was a huge hit among the customers.

Everyone played their roles and duties superbly. The event also received warm feedback and appreciation from visitors, both young and old who enjoyed every bit of it. Looking forward to a much bigger and better Supermarket next year.

The Annual Class A Supermarket Event was held on the 24th of June, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am in our School Hall. All six sections – Great Bears, Twinkling Stars, Birds of Paradise, Little Dippers, Blue Dolphins, and Shooting Stars – opened their own individual mini-shops, each offering different food items.

The program was hosted by Madam I. Tainla Ao, Supervisor of Star Kids. It began with an invocation by Miss Lhingneichin Roselyn, the Class Teacher of Class-A (Blue Dolphins).

This community-centric event aims to foster responsibility and mindfulness in children from an early age. It exposes them to the commercial world, instilling self-sufficiency and independence for their future prospects. The program’s objective is to help students utilize number concepts such as counting numbers 0-10 and counting on in 10s and 100s. It also teaches them practical skills like using weighing machines, keeping tally, and recording beyond classroom applications.

Through this event, a child can polish their conversation skills, learn persuasion techniques, and adapt to a calculative mindset. It contributes to personality development and boosts children’s confidence, aiding their overall development. The event also exercises the mental abilities of the students, enhancing their reasoning skills and decision-making abilities.

The event was a resounding success, enjoyed by all. It concluded with a benediction prayer from Miss Risemenla, the Class A Teacher of the Shooting Stars section.

The Annual Supermarket event hosted by Class A students was held on the 17th of September, 2022 at the 5th floor hall. The event is held every year with a goal to allow the little ones to learn from experience: from what happens around them, from what they see, hear, smell, taste and touch. To absorb those experiences and make sense of the world, they need to be engaged in imaginary play. The event also provides them an opportunity to apply their newfound knowledge of numbers and alphabets into real life application.

The event was hosted by Miss Eunice Chen, Class Teacher of Blue Dolphin. She welcomed the parents and expressed gratitude for their presence in the event. The event started with a prayer from Miss Shürhoneiü, Assistant Teacher Nursery. The excitement of the little ones was evident as they were all amazingly adorned in the most colorful aprons welcoming the parents with a smile to their respective shops. Some of the little ones in a quest to sell off their food items ran out to persuade the parents to purchase from their shops. The little Shopkeepers complimented and thanked the customers for purchasing from their shops. The record keepers were keenly listening to the items being purchased, they kept a precise record of everything purchased by the customers. The little ones performed so well with gusto, they knew no thirst or hunger as all of them enjoyed acting out their role in real life situations. The little ones effectively carried out their responsibility and developed healthy connections with their peers.

The little ones manning their own little shops boosted their confidence and sparked their creativity and imagination. It also developed their social skills as they collaborated with one another. The Supermarket event motivated the little ones positively in a fun and engaging way.

The program ended with a benediction by Miss Arenla Imti, Class Teacher Birds of Paradise.
