The Star Kids Annual Supermarket was an enthralling event held on the 27th of June 2025, organized by Class A students and teachers. The event encompassed six sections: Twinkling Stars, Great Bears, Little Dippers, Blue Dolphins, Birds of Paradise, and Shooting Stars.
The main objective of the supermarket event was to introduced basic mathematical concepts such as counting, as well as basic economic concepts like buying, selling, and exchanging money. It also aimed to enhance students’ social and communication skills, foster teamwork, encourage responsibility and creativity, and provide hands-on learning in a playful and practical environment.
All the students from Class A participated. Each class set up four shops, resulting in a total of 24 shops, where the children sold healthy food items, fruits, and handcrafted craft items made by the students themselves. Every student was engaged with a specific role such as shopkeeper, shop assistant, accountant, cashier, or bag seller.
The shopkeepers and shop assistants introduced each item displayed and actively convinced customers to buy. Their duties included selling items and calculating the total cost of purchases using basic counting methods. The accountants diligently recorded the number of items sold on tally sheets, while the cashiers handled simple money transactions, including returning change. Meanwhile, the bag sellers enthusiastically promoted their bags to customers.
It was a wonderful and proud moment to watch the children perform so well. All the students carried out their duties enthusiastically and diligently. They enjoyed the role-play and felt a strong sense of pride in their responsibilities.
Through the supermarket experience, many learning outcomes were achieved. The children practiced basic counting, recognized money, and adapted to simple financial transactions. They developed social skills, learned to handle real-life situations, and built confidence. They also practiced patience and expressed their creativity to the fullest.
