Nursery Zoo trip 2024

On the 30th of October, the school organized a zoo trip to Nagaland Zoological Park for the Nursery class students. A zoo is a place where various birds, animals, and reptiles are kept—creatures we do not usually encounter in our everyday surroundings. The students departed from the school with great enthusiasm, eager to explore the park. A total of 74 students, accompanied by 12 teachers and 4 sisters, participated in the trip.

Before entering the zoo, we had a class-wise group photo session. Upon entry, the first sight was a beautiful, well-maintained garden brimming with greenery. The zoo features separate, well-protected enclosures for different animals. The students’ first encounter was with monkeys. There were distinct enclosures for birds, animals, and reptiles. The children were particularly amazed by a large, very old tortoise. They also observed a variety of birds, including parrots, eagles, vultures, hornbills, pigeons, and emus. The zoo also showcased wild animals such as leopards, bears, jackals, wild dogs, deer, and porcupines.

After thoroughly exploring the zoo, the group gathered for lunch. The primary objective of this visit was to provide children with an opportunity to see different animals in a setting that reflects their natural environments. This experience aimed to cultivate an understanding that animals, as living beings, have specific needs to survive, fostering compassion and empathy toward them. The educational trip helped the children learn about the diverse animals that exist in the world around them. Additionally, the visit served as an educational platform for students to enhance their knowledge of animal species’ diversity, broadening their general awareness and understanding.
