2nd Annual Math Quiz Competition Class B

The 2nd Annual Math Quiz competition of class B, Star Kids was held on the 20th of September 2024, at the school hall. The programme was graced by our Honourable Chairman, Madam Nini Sekhose, Administrator Sir Ketoulhou Sekhose, and parents of the participants.

The event started with an invocation prayer by Miss Yangersangla. The timekeeper was Madam Rebika Sharma, Miss Rukhsar Begum managed the powerpoint and Miss Imlikala Longchar was the scorekeeper. Madam Tainla and Miss Eunice Chen were the hosts.

The competition started with the host highlighting the importance of maths by stating that “numeracy skills help in improving attention span, concentration levels, decision making abilities, critical thinking and effective communication skills thereby maximising a child’s potential.”

The competition was represented by 5 teams of 4 participants each from all the 5 sections of class B. The competition had 8 rounds plus 2 audience rounds. Out of the 8 rounds, 2 rounds were activity based rounds namely, number frames round where the students had to match 3 pairs of numbers totalling 10 and directions round where one student representing their team was tasked to draw the directions in a square lines sheet according to the instructions. In both rounds, the student who completed the task first correctly won the rounds. Polaris got the edge over the other teams by winning the number frames round while Smart Earthlings won the directions round.

The rapid fire round, which was the final round, was well contested by all the teams. One participant from each team had to answer addition, doubles and halves equations within 30 seconds. Precious Pearls could correctly answer a maximum of 15 questions followed by Polaris with 14.

The highlight of the competition were the 2 audience rounds where students scrambled to answer questions. Their enthusiasm, confidence and effort to answer earned them special gifts of their choice out of the many.

After showcasing their mental prowess and potential in all the rounds, the first place was deservedly bagged by Polaris followed by Precious Pearls in second place and Heavenly Waters in third place. Our Director, Sir Ketoulhou Sekhose gave away the certificates and prizes to the 3 winning classes as well as certificates to the other 2 classes followed by a photoshoot of each of the 5 classes along with their parents, class teacher and our Director.

Madam Emilo delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks by expressing gratitude to everyone who made the competition an engaging and grand event. Miss Menangmenla closed the event with a benediction prayer.
